How NOT to make money online: A free Guide

Here I offer, straight from my own experience, step by step instructions for how NOT to make money online. If you follow these steps, as many of you can already attest, you WILL succeed at NOT making money online.

How NOT to make money online.
(a.k.a. how I spent today)
7:30 am: Start work day.
7:31 am: Check CNN.com
7:45 am: Check email
7:51 am: Check adsense for my various sites.
7:53 am: Check Statcounter stats from “came from†Browse thru a few pages. Disappointed no really new traffic.
7:56 am: Check email. Nothing exciting. Ignore for now.
7:58 am: Check Statcounter “recent keyword activityâ€. Browse thru a few pages. Disappointed no really new keyword traffic.
8:05 am: Check CNN.com again.
8:18 am: Follow it to a Time magazine story.
8:45 am: Realize I have followed story after story and wasted about 30 minutes of work time. Resolve to get focused.
8:46 am: Check ValueClickMedia income. Disappointed not increasing.
8:48 am: Check email. Reply to a few. Approve some comments.
8:55 am: Take break after sitting and “working†for an hour. Shower, breakfast, read the paper. Think “I should work out. Somedayâ€.
9:45 am: Time to get back to work. This time I will accomplish something.
10:30 am: Realize I have been checking out Digg “looking for post ideas†for 45 minutes, aimlessly moving from story to story.
10:31 am: Resolve to get FOCUSED.
10:32 am: Take a quick break, stretch, watch some CNN.
11 am: That was a fascinating CNN story on shifting social trends in India, but gotta get back to work.
11:01 am: Check email. Approve some comments. Watch some Youtube funny videos a friend sent me.
11:35 am: Realize got lost on youtube for 20 minutes. Gotta write a post now.
11:36 am: Check adsense and Valueclick and Statcounter again.
1l:42 am: Check Kontera context ads from another site. They are so damn slow posting yesterday’s earnings! Refresh a few times, just in case it’s just now updating.
11:55 am: Check email. Nothing new.
11:56 am: Check email again. Still nothing.
11:58 am: Check Kontera again. Jeeze. Still nothing.
Noon: Time for lunch. Nothing accomplished in 4 hours! That’s ok. This afternoon I’ll really kick butt.
12:30 pm: Click on a stupid animal documentary for a minute, while finishing eating.
1pm. That was beautiful. That baby monkey lived! The transplant worked! Wow, a human giving a kidney to a monkey! Beautiful.
1:01 pm: OK. Really got a get some work done.
1:02 pm: Maybe I’ll go ahead and do that errand now.
1:28 pm: As long as I’m out, I might as well catch that new movie. Then I can cross that off the to do list, so I can get more focused.
4:30 pm: OK, still time to get some good focused work done.
4:31 pm: Check email, check stats, check ad income, disappointed it’s not increasing.
4:32 pm: Just flipping thru channels for a minute, seeing if anything gives me any ideas.
5:pm: Wow, Oprah sure is inspiring. What a great show that was!
6:pm: I can’t believe I just wasted an hour watching that hokey Dr. Phil. But maybe I needed to hear some of his tough love. I think he really cares about me.
6:01pm: Alright. Tomorrow, nothing but productivity. I mean, after I see that other movie, and part 2 of Dr. Phil.
